Don't Sleep on the Kitchen Party

Some of the best moments do not happen around a fire.

They happen in the kitchen.

Last night was one of those nights. Nothing was planned. No big meal. No special occasion. Just the two of us deciding to make something quick for dinner.

Fried chicken tenders. Steamed broccoli. Fried papa’s. Homemade deep fried sliced onions.

Simple.

But somewhere between the first drink and the second song, it turned into something more.

Music got turned up. We started moving around the kitchen a little more. Laughing. Dancing. Sarah always says if we are cooking Mexican food, it tastes better with Mexican music playing. So I Cumbia.

She is right.

There is something about cooking together that just hits different. Passing things back and forth. Tasting as you go. A kiss here and there. Maybe more than just a few. Laughing at nothing. Not rushing. Not thinking about what is next.

Just being there.

Those moments are hard to beat.

It is not about the food, even though the food is good. It is about the connection. The time. The feeling that nowhere else matters for a little while.

And it is not just the two of us.

You can never go wrong with a kitchen party with friends and family.

Somehow, everyone ends up in the kitchen. It does not matter how much space there is. People are leaning on counters, opening the fridge, grabbing a drink, and picking at food before it is even done.

Conversations overlap. Someone is always telling a story. Someone else is laughing too loud. The music changes. The night stretches.

The kitchen just has a way of bringing people together.

It is not formal. It is not planned. It is real.

There is something about sharing food, even before it hits the table, that connects people. You are part of it. You see it being made. You taste it along the way. You feel like you belong there.

And that kind of connection is good for the soul.

In a world that feels busy all the time, the kitchen slows things down. It gives you a reason to stay. To talk. To laugh. To be present with the people right in front of you.

No phones. No distractions. Just good food, good music, and better company.

So do not sleep on the kitchen party.

Turn on some music. Pour a drink. Cook something simple. Dance a little. Laugh a lot.

And if you get the chance, kiss your person as much as you can.

Those are the moments that stick with you.
